Huntington/Fox Fire KOA Campground
Huntington/Fox Fire KOA Campground offers big-rig friendly gravel sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups. A Kamp K9 Doggie Park is provided for pets to run through obstacles and roam without a leash. Some amenities offered are bathhouses, cable television, a laundry facility, and wireless internet accessibility. The campground also has a dump station, propane, and firewood available. Shopping, museums, an amusement park, and a gaming center are some recreational activities nearby.
Jim’s Camping & Storage
Jim’s Camping & Storage offers primitive and RV campsites on the Mud River. There are 98 campsites for all types of campers, with 52 of them providing full hookups. The facility includes a dump station, Wi-Fi, cable TV, a shower house, a laundry facility, and an LP fill station. The campground is near Midway Drive-In and shopping. Pets are welcomed at this campground, and storage units are also offered here.
Mohr’s Roadside RV Park
Mohr’s Roadside RV Park is a great overnight stop just off of Interstate 64 with water, electric, and sewer hookups. The campground offers the essential basics with the added convenience of nearby restaurants and stores.

Beech Fork State Park
Beech Fork State Park has an excellent selection of amenities onsite to suit various interests. Whether you are interested in softball, basketball, or volleyball, dedicated spaces are available in the park. Between the children’s playground, boat rentals, a shooting range, sports courts, and more, there are wonderful ways to spend your days at Beech Fork State Park.
Inside Beech Fork State Park
The extensive 720-acre lake has 31 miles of shoreline where you can try your fishing skills by catching some of West Virginia's most popular species; fishing supplies, bait, and ice for your cooler can be bought at the Camper's Corner Store. The lake is also ideal for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and recreational boating. There are well over 14 miles of hiking trails to explore, with some that are fairly easy and others that tend to be extremely hard. The Mary Davis Trail is the longest and most strenuous of the trails; it is used not only for hiking but also for hunting season.
Fishing
With various fish biting throughout the year, shore fishing and boat fishing at Beech Fork State Park are great ways to spend the day. The lake is stocked seasonally with trout. It is also home to walleye, spotted bass, largemouth bass, hybrid spotted bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass.

Nature Watching

Hiking
Whether you are up for a long nature hike or an easier stroll, there are numerous hiking trails throughout the state park. Some popular trails are the 3.1-mile Lost Trail, the 6.7-mile Mary Davis Trail, and the 2.1-mile Overlook Trail. Guests also use the quiet park roads for walking on paved surfaces.
Boating
Boats with a 10-horsepower less or lower are permitted on Beech Fork Lake. Boaters can use the state park’s boat launch or may rent a pontoon boat or fishing boat at nearby Beech Fork Lake Marina. In addition, canoes and paddle boats can be rented at the park seasonally.
Swimming
Swimming is available by boat and from shore on the lake. Beech Fork State Park also has an onsite swimming pool open daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It has lifeguards, a snack bar, and a bathhouse.
Biking
The hiking trails at Beech Fork State Park are open for mountain biking. You can also cycle cautiously on the park’s paved roads.
How to Get to
Beech Fork State Park
If traveling to Beech Fork State Park from Huntington, take exit 11 to Route 10. Travel approximately 10 miles south on Route 10. Turn right on Route 10/3. This road connects to Route 43, which you will take south for a few more miles. It runs directly into the park. Traveling to the state park from Louisa, you will take Highway 52 to Route 37. The road will transition east on Route 37 into Route 152 and take you to Wayne. North of Wayne, turn right on Wilson Creek Road. This road forks into Routes 17 and 17/4. Take the left-hand road, which is Route 17. After traveling several miles on Route 17, it will take you directly into the park.
Entering Beech Fork State Park
Parking is available only in designated areas in the park. A maximum of two vehicles per campsite is permitted.

If you plan to go swimming, the Beech Fork State Park pool is open only during summer. With cool, crisp weather conditions in the fall, many visitors enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and other activities during this season.
Beech Fork State Park is home to many waterfowl species and mourning doves and turkeys. The lake has trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and walleye. In addition, grouse, squirrels, rabbits, deer, foxes, and raccoons live in the area.
There are 275 campsites at Beech Fork State Park. These sites accommodate both RV and tent camping, and designated sites are specifically for RV camping.
Reservations are not required at any of the four campgrounds at Beech Fork State Park. Online reservations are available, and there is no additional reservation fee. The camping fee ranges from $19 to $45.
Both dogs and cats are allowed at the park. Pets must be leashed at all times.
